Jordyn + Eric met as first year students at Trinity Western University, where both are Spartans athletes: Jordyn in track and field and Eric plays basketball. Not far into that first semester, they began dating and have been together since, supporting and encouraging one another in sport and in life.

While these education (Jordyn) and sciences (Eric) majors work toward graduation next spring, they’re also making plans their future. This summer, Eric proposed to Jordyn and the two are planning their June 2019 wedding!

I had the privilege of capturing their engagement session a couple of weeks back and what a treat it was to meet this dynamic, fun-loving pair. Jordyn + Eric, thank you for having me along!

A bride and groom celebrate their wedding at Swaneset Bay.

Amy + Dominic are all about family, so it was fitting that they got ready at their parents’ homes – and included their siblings, siblings’ spouses, and two of their nieces in their gorgeous wedding party! When I first met these lovelies last year for their engagement session, I instantly felt like I’d gained a couple of friends.

They’re the kind of people who truly care more for others than for themselves; even on their wedding day, Amy + Dominic made sure their friends and family (and photographers) were well looked after.

After a relaxing morning of getting ready, Amy and her ladies made their way over to Dominic’s parents’ home, where Amy + Dominic had their first look and a few pics with Nico (their best dog). Then the bridal party and their parents hopped on the party bus to the venue. The bubbly (served by Dominic) and music flowed on the fun ride to Swan-e-set Bay, one of the most stunning wedding venues around and the perfect setting for Amy + Dominic’s unique red and black Italian-inspired wedding.

The amazing tree-lined drive at Swan-e-set was the perfect backdrop for wedding party photos. Against the crisp fall foliage, the bridesmaids’ flowing crimson dresses and the groom and groomsmen’s sharp black suits with red vests made quite a statement. Even Amy’s stunning gown featured a touch of red, with a ribbon trim cascading down the back.

Following their short-but-sweet outdoor ceremony and family photos, Amy + Dominic made the grandest of grand entrances accompanied by fireworks! In a twist on the Shoe Game, Amy + Dominic were joined by their parents, Debora + Bruno and Edy + Mike. So fun!

The sweetest young lady caught Amy’s gorgeous bouquet, then the bridal party played a bit of a trick on Dominic before the garter toss. Finally, it was time for everyone to dance the night away!

Amy + Dominic, it was a dream to capture your wedding day memories. Thank you for having me along!

This past Saturday, Maddy + Austin exchanged marriage vows in a God-honouring ceremony under a beautiful arbor in the garden of Austin’s family home.

Some people might say this wedding was a long time coming, since Austin + Maddy have been together for 11 years. But the timing of this next step was exactly right for these two, who have built their relationship on the solid foundation of their longstanding friendship and their deep faith.

Everyone who played a role in their wedding day, from their attendants (their nearest and dearest friends), to the officiant (Austin’s mom Gwen’s long-time friend Kathy), to the florist (Gwen’s friend Barb), to the special music (courtesy Austin’s brother Zac’s partner Casey), was connected to the couple or their parents. This was a celebration not just of the love between Austin + Maddy, but of the love they and all those around them share.

As Casey played and sang, Maddy walked down a beautiful gravel path lined with lavender and buckets of baby’s breath on the arm of her dad Colin. In Celtic tradition, Kathy tied a cord of three strands around their hands, symbolizing the binding together of their lives. The three cords, she said, represent Maddy, Austin, and Jesus Christ.

After family and bridal party portraits on Peter + Gwen’s stunning property, it was time to celebrate! During the speeches, Maddy + Austin were surprised when Gwen read a note from Maddy to Austin, written years ago, which Gwen found in Austin’s pants pocket and had the foresight to tuck away. It read, in part, “Hi, Austin, do you like me? LOL.” A definite highlight of the day!

Maddy + Austin, it was an absolute blessing to capture these memories for you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for having me along! Here are a few favourites from your day…

Kateryna + Brooklyn’s wedding day was filled to overflowing with love, joy and tradition…including more than a few nods to her Russian heritage. Brooklyn and the guys arrived to Kateryna’s mom’s home, where friends had gathered to witness him  “buy” his bride. After his successful purchase (and a champagne toast) it was off to Holy Rosary Cathedral for their beautiful Catholic ceremony.

After bridal party photos at Stanley Park, it was time for their reception at Vancouver’s gorgeous Sutton Place Hotel! Of course, the room and gorgeous decor paled in comparison to the stunning bride and her groom!

I’m not sure I’ve ever been to a livelier reception, with games, couple trivia, vodka toasts, and the traditional giving of bread and salt to the couple by the mother of the bride. And then there was the dancing…oh my goodness! At just five years old, Kateryna’s daughter Sofia is already a pro on the dance floor! I could learn a thing or two from her for sure.

Kateryna + Brooklyn, it was a delight to capture your wedding day memories for you…thank you for having me along! Here are just a few of my favourites from the day…

Sometimes, when we miss an opportunity, God puts another one in our path. That’s what happened for Krista + Javen, who first met at Westside Church one Sunday during Communion.

Krista remembers Javen was with a friend, seated in the row in front of her. When she got back to her row, she found Javen and his friend praying in the row where she had been seated. Afterward, she says, they joked with one another about playing musical chairs in church. When the service ended, Javen looked for Krista but, not wanting to interrupt Javen and his friend, she had already left.

Fast forward a few months…Krista + Javen were both using Bumble and connected again, though they didn’t realize right away that they had already met earlier. The two were a little surprised to find a fellow Christian on a dating site. Then Javen mentioned that he sometimes attended Westside with his friend and Krista realized that he was the one she had run into that Sunday during Communion.

On their first get together, they walked around False Creek and the more they talked the more they discovered they had a lot in common. Javen told her he still couldn’t believe she was really the one from that day at Westside. “God gave us another chance to meet,” Krista says.

I had the privilege of meeting these two lovelies at Mandi + Pat’s Fraser River Lodge wedding last summer, where Krista helped her friends out by serving as the day-of wedding coordinator. What struck me most about Krista is how kind, caring, and genuine she is…and that there’s deep joy that emanates from within. She has a delightful laugh and a knack for making others around her feel valued and appreciated. And Javen is very much like that as well.

Although at the time, the pair had only been dating for a few months it was plain to see there was something unique and wonderful between Krista + Javen. From the outset, they put God at the centre of their lives and that really solidified things for them. They built their relationship on the firm foundation of their mutual faith.

After they’d been dating for a little over a year, Javen asked Krista to marry him and now these two are planning their Best Day Ever—and the life that will follow—with Christ as their cornerstone.

Krista + Javen, I couldn’t be happier for the two of you…and I’m beyond honoured to capture your engagement and wedding day memories! Blessings to you as you begin your new life together! Here are just a few of my faves from your Whytecliff Park engagement session:
